Yesterday I photographed a wedding (it was fab but more on that another time) and I decided to use it as an excuse to hire me an amazing lens. I opted for the Canon 70-200mm f2.8. If that doesn't mean much to you, it basically allows you to zoom in quite a bit and get a lovely blurred effect (known as a shallow depth of field) around your subject, like this...
It's ideal for weddings as you can just skulk around the edge of the room and take natural candid shots without people realising. Well sometimes people realised, on account of the fact that it's pretty darn massive and it gives you a 'paparazzi look'.
I also managed to finally get a decent photo of a starling's beautiful iridescent feathers...
I have definitely fallen in love with it and alas, I have to return it tomorrow. I shall start saving my pennies. But just one word of warning....it's rubbish at selfies!!
