Families with
Additional
Needs
I believe that everyone should have access to the same services, and that includes having beautiful photos of yourself or your family. However sometimes there may be certain needs to be considered prior to a photo shoot.
As an Occupational Therapist in my former career, I have worked with people with a range of different needs. These needs include those that may come with having autism or ADHD. I have worked a lot with those with mental health needs and understand the challenges that can come with depression and anxiety, hearing voices and experiencing eating disorders. I also have experience working with people who have dementia. However I also love to learn about a person's personality, strengths and talents and try to capture these within the photos.
I know that everyone is an individual and each family is unique, and that's why conversations before the shoot are helpful. Sometimes these are better over the phone and sometimes it may be better to meet in person. I won't ask lots of questions, preferring you to tell me what you think is important when planning the shoot.
There are lots of ways that a shoot can be tailored to meet the needs of you and your family and make it as relaxed and fun experience as possible. Here are just some of these;
-
Choosing a location that is familar and meaningful to your family, maybe somewhere you love to go on a sunny day
-
Taking photos of you and your family doing activities you love to do
-
Allowing plenty of time for the shoot
-
Providing clear explanations of what's going to happen and involving you and your family in any decisions
-
Having a 'plan B' if the shoot doesn't go as expected
Please contact me if you would like to discuss a photo shoot and ask any questions.
